LBS MBA student receives the India UK Achievers Honour
Priyal, who is a part of London Business School’s MBA Class of 2024, received the honours as a part of the commemoration ceremony to mark 75 years of India’s independence. The Honours recognise the India-UK educational relationship by celebrating the significant contributions of current Indian students and alumni from UK colleges and universities.
Recognised for her triumphs on the international rifle shooting circuit and contributions to the 30 for 2030 network of UN Women, she received the Achievers Honours in the category of Art, Culture, Entertainment & Sport in London on 25th January, the eve of India’s seventy-fourth Republic Day.
Priyal has represented India in the sport of rifle shooting for seven years and has bagged more than 110 medals during her sporting career. A Chartered Accountant, TEDx speaker and social entrepreneur, she has established an NGO working at the intersection of sport and sustainability in India and is also part of the UN Women 30 for 2030 network, consisting of 30 individuals selected globally by UN Women to work with their different regional offices to help them accelerate progress towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals agenda.
An advocate for gender equality, through her engagement with the UN Women’s Regional Office of the Asia Pacific she co-led the 16 days of Activism campaign in 2022 and launched a toolkit for ending Online Gender Based Violence against Women and Girls.
Commenting on her honour, Priyal said:
“I feel extremely humbled to be chosen to receive this honour, particularly as there were 900 equally strong applicants with outstanding accomplishments for the Honours committee to choose from. I have the great fortune of being able to study at one of the best business schools in the world and it is great that the National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK has come together with the British Council and others to recognise the achievements of current and previous students from across the UK. Recognitions like these, along with the incredible encouragement I have always had from LBS, are the key motivating factors that drive me in my efforts to make a difference to society through my social impact commitments and the knowledge learned from my studies.”
