Volunteer

Share your time and talent to enrich the LBS community

Get involved

There are many ways you can play an active role after studying with us, ensuring we have an engaged alumni community, which benefits you, your business, your fellow alumni and the future generations who come here.

Taking on a volunteering role in your class is one of the many ways for you to play an active role in the School as a member of our alumni community.

Not only will you benefit from the greater engagement your class has with the School – and each other – but it is a fun and satisfying way to stay in contact with your classmates and help bring them together.

Offer informal advice and guidance

You can advise on specific issues, based on your own areas of expertise and your own career transitions. You can also review CVs, offer interview tips and practice sessions, and facilitate recruitment opportunities and internships. You can conduct these sessions face-to-face and over email or Skype.

If you are interested, visit LBS Hub and click on the e-mentoring tab.

Masters in Finance (MiF) two- to four-month project

Provide opportunities for our MiF students to work on finance business projects for you. MiFs are high-calibre finance professionals with an average of seven years' experience. As part of their programme, they can choose to work on a company-sponsored business project as a consultant. It could be any business issue centred on a financial situation, transaction or empirical research, and your company could be of any size or structure.

To find out more, contact Bryony Murdoch at bmurdoch@london.edu.

MBA 8-12 -week paid internship

Most students on the MBA programme take advantage of an eight- to twelve-week paid internship at the end of the first year. This helps students put their first-year learning into action and gain an understanding of a particular function or sector that may be new to them. Students are able to inject their fresh perspectives, providing organisations with the latest thinking and ideas.

If you are interested in offering an internship, visit our Recruitment and Talent pages.

Public Speaking

Help shape our student experience in a variety of ways. You can be a guest speaker at a core class or elective course alongside an LBS faculty member, and talk at a student-led Club event. There are also opportunities to get involved with student treks and global business experiences outside London.

Become an official mentor

Mentoring is a great way to make a difference to a student’s future. You can mentor students across the LBS degree portfolio by providing structured support for them to learn and develop. The relationship can take place face-to-face or remotely.

“I have very much enjoyed mentoring, finding enormous value in the relationships I have forged along the way - both personally and professionally. LBS has a wonderful tradition of helping future generations, and I am so pleased to have played a part in giving something back.”

- Patrick Finney, MBA2006
