Meet LBS’ new columnist for Poets & Quants

MBA student Divya Chaurasia shares her path to London Business School and efforts to help FLII students break through barriers

New blog post written on a typewriter

In her first column for Poets & Quants (P&Q), second-year MBA student Divya Chaurasia opens her heart about what it means to pursue an MBA at London Business School as a first-generation, intermediate-income girl from the heartlands of India.

A Laidlaw scholar and Vice President of LBS’ First Generation Low and Intermediate Income (FLII) Club, she is using the chance that her scholarship has given her to “make education, opportunities, and events more accessible for all through advocacy for financial support, promoting inclusive policies, and collaborating with other clubs and external organizations to provide additional support and resources to students from FLII backgrounds.”

In the column, she shares her thoughts on the struggles faced by FLII students and offers tips on how to get the most out of life at business school with a more limited budget.

“Be curious, challenge yourself, and uplift those around you. Through perseverance, support, and an unwavering commitment to growth, you can break through barriers and create your sense of belonging – wherever you go,” writes Divya.

Watch out for regular P&Q columns from Divya throughout the 2024-25 academic year.
