Make Work Fair: Data-Driven Design for Real Results
LBS talk reveals how a focus on fairness offers a chance to create workplaces that offer a level playing field for everyone

London Business School’s Leadership Institute recently hosted a compelling book talk featuring behavioural economist Dr Iris Bohnet and gender equity expert Siri Chilazi. They discussed their latest work, Make Work Fair with Aneeta Rattan, Professor of Organisational Behaviour at LBS.
Despite significant investments in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, unfairness remains entrenched in workplace structures and processes. The authors propose a new, evidence-based paradigm for how to create fair workplaces that offer a level playing field for everyone.
In Make Work Fair: Data-Driven Design for Real Results they present data-backed, actionable solutions to embed fairness into the very fabric of the workplace. These solutions empower employees at all levels to make fairer – and simply better – everyday decisions regardless of their role, seniority, responsibilities, or location.
Published at a time when DEI is seen as controversial by some, the book emphasises fairness as a shared human value and a common ground from which all organisations can build. While methods to achieve fairness may vary, the underlying goal remains the same: genuine opportunities to succeed on an equal playing field. As future leaders strive for economic growth and innovation, effective collaboration within diverse teams will be crucial, whether under the DEI umbrella or simply through fairness.
