LBS and Fudan launch Global Masters in Management
London Business School – consistently ranked in the world’s top five MBA schools – and top Chinese establishment Fudan University, Shanghai, are responding to a rising demand for talented people who understand how to do business in both the East and the West.
The two Deans – Sir Andrew Likierman and Lu Xiongwen – met at Fudan University on 6 June to formalise the partnership and launch the Global Masters in Management double business degree.
Sir Andrew said: “The programme will give its graduates a ‘two-world’ mindset, combining direct exposure to China and the West. The balance of theory and practice will ensure students gain a head start in the competition for the world’s best business jobs.”
Dean Lu Xiongwen, FDSM, said: “Many business schools in China are broadening their horizons and looking to the rest of the world for inspiration. Fudan’s School of Management is already leader in its field across China. Our partnership with London Business School, one the world’s top business education institutions, will help us to reach the next level in terms of our expertise. This collaboration will help to draw out of the best of the management systems employed in both East and West, aiding the development of more capable leaders in future.”
Some top companies will only appoint senior leaders who have this experience and who speak Mandarin, for example Boeing. The Chinese market is the second-largest for the airplane builder and chief executive officer Jim McNerny has said future leaders ‘have to have personal experience in China’.*
The Global Masters in Management will enhance an already-successful relationship between London Business School and leading Chinese universities.

We also recently launched a Mandarin webpage. The double MiM is the natural progression for London Business School’s links with China.
“The memorandum of understanding with Fudan demonstrates our commitment to working closely with Chinese corporate partners. The double degree includes a real Asian business immersion experience through company projects mentored by some of the leading companies in China, as well as field trips to other Asian countries.”
