LBS research rated ‘world-leading’
London Business School (LBS) has maintained its credentials as a world-leading institution for research in the UK-wide Research Excellence Framework (REF2021).
Nearly 80% of the School’s research output receives the top 4* rating, meaning it is regarded ‘world-leading’. LBS leads this category, scoring higher than any other institution submitting to the Business and Management Studies unit of assessment for the quality of its research outputs.
François Ortalo-Magné, Dean, LBS says: “We welcome this result which affirms our research excellence once again. To have 78.5% of our research publications rated world-leading, underscores the strength of our faculty across all areas of business research. I congratulate our academic colleagues.”
The REF is conducted jointly by the higher education research councils for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The aim of the exercise is to assess the quality and impact of UK higher education institutions’ research in all academic disciplines.
All the research submitted to REF is rated 4* (world-leading), 3* (internationally excellent), 2* (recognised internationally), 1* (recognised nationally) or 0 (unclassified).
