Campaign Chair appointed
Savio Kwan, an alumnus of London Business School (LBS) and a member of its Governing Body, has been appointed as Chair of the School’s second major fundraising campaign.
Savio Kwan has been a long-standing supporter of LBS. Formerly the President and COO of Alibaba, he received the Alumni Achievement Award in 2011 and has been a member of the Governing Body since 2018. He funded the Charles Handy Chair in Organisational Behaviour and an endowed scholarship programme during the last major campaign.
The five-year campaign will launch in the autumn of 2022 with a target of £200 million. It will enable LBS to fund more scholarships to increase the quality and diversity of its students, and help facilitate a significant programme of world-leading research. The School will also be investing in the learning environment and innovation.
The School’s last major fundraising campaign exceeded its £100m target, raising £125m between 2013 and 2016. This included funding for the Sammy Ofer Centre, to provide additional high-class lecture and learning facilities for LBS students and participants in Executive Education programmes.
Dean of LBS, François Ortalo-Magné, said:
“Savio shares our commitment to securing the financial support to create an exciting new chapter in the School’s history by delivering on our vision of LBS as an engaged community walking the learning journey.
“That means building stronger and deeper connections with our alumni as we explore, discover and learn together; strengthening how we support and amplify the research of our faculty; and investing in the talent of all our people as we strive for both financial and environmental sustainability.
“Together, we will fulfil our purpose – to have a profound impact on the way the world does business and the way business impacts the world.”
