Black Beauty Pride and Excellence Art Exhibition

London Business School’s Black in Business (BiB) Club is hosting a modern and contemporary art exhibition centred on black beauty, pride and excellence, the first time the Club has organised such an event. Organised in partnership with Pavillon54, a digital platform and community for modern and contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora, the Black Beauty, Pride & Excellence Art Exhibition, will showcase 20 original artworks from African and Afro-descents, each offering a different representation of Black culture and community, with a focus on resilience, celebration, and positivity.

The exhibition is being organised as part of BiB’s mission to enrich the LBS experience through education and exposure to Black culture and the Black community at large.

Commenting on the exhibition, Co-President of BiB Seun Akingbogun said:

“The exhibition comes at a time when Black people around the world are reclaiming their own narrative and seeking to tell a story that runs counter to previous representations of Black culture and community. We are delighted that the Black in Business Club is able to draw people's attention to the Black beauty, pride and excellence aspects of the Black culture that these artworks embody.”

Dana Endundo, CEO and Founder of Pavillon54 said:

“We applaud the Black in Business club for starting this initiative and are happy at Pavillon54 to present the works of talented Africans and afro-descent artists to the broader LBS community. The show is a celebration of emerging artists of colour and the contribution of black people throughout history and today to beauty and excellence. Those stories need to be heard, learned and appreciated for their extraordinary value.”

The artists featured are Nigerian artist Suraj Adekola, Sudanese artist Amado AlFadni, conceptual artist Àsìkò, contemporary visual artist Sani Sani-Mohammed (aka INxSANIxTY), self-taught artist Maliza Kiasuwa, multidisciplinary commercial artist Denisse Ariana Pérez and DRC-born Los Angeles-based Bâ Simba.

The exhibition, which is being held in the North Building of the main LBS campus in Sussex Place, opens to the public from 16 March until 2 April, with an Opening Night event taking place on 16 March from 19.00-22.00. FREE Tickets for the Opening Night are available to all those interested in attending.

All artworks exhibited are available for sale and can be viewed in the exhibition catalogue.
