About me: Kaori, originally from Osaka, Japan, brings a diverse and accomplished background in financial management, advisory and accounting, spanning various sectors, including healthcare, aircraft leasing and agricultural chemical distribution. Her educational foundation was in Precision Engineering at the University of Tokyo.
Kaori’s transformative journey from engineering to finance in the healthcare sector was sparked by her pursuit of a degree in medical engineering, driven by her vision to bridge the gap between engineers, doctors and patients through business. Her professional journey took shape at Mitsui & Co Ltd, where she refined her expertise in financial management, accounting and advisory. Notably, her career progression within the company included a two-year secondment to a subsidiary in Brussels, Belgium, paving the way for her pursuit of an MBA.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Kaori is deeply committed to gender equity and empowerment. She stands as the first woman in her family to complete a university degree and the second woman to receive company sponsorship, an experience that fuels her dedication to the Women in Business initiative at LBS. Her mission is to build networks and knowledge that will empower younger female peers in Japan and East Asia.
Additionally, Kaori’s proactive involvement extends to consulting volunteer work for the NHS, where she strives to optimise healthcare services and contribute to the betterment of healthcare for all.
In her leisure time, Kaori indulges her passion for travel, cherishing visits to friends around the world. She also enjoys attending concerts and exploring new restaurants.
