About me: Freya is a research scientist who grew up between the UK and Sweden. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Edinburgh in Biological Sciences, with honours in Immunology. Funded by AstraZeneca, she then gained her PhD at the University of Manchester where she researched the role of the immune system in allergic airway diseases such as asthma. Most recently, Freya conducted her postdoctoral research at the VIB in Belgium where she has been studying tissue repair with a focus on the role of the immune system in liver regeneration. She was actively involved in training the next generation of scientists and, outside the lab, was an advocate for young researchers in academia.

Freya is passionate about innovation and chose to pursue an MBA to complement her in-depth of knowledge of life sciences with the business skills necessary to translate discoveries from the lab to market. In addition to being a student ambassador, she is involved in the Healthcare and Private Equity & Venture Capital Clubs, further supporting her goal to transition into the life sciences investing space and help guide the next generation of biotech companies.

In her spare time, Freya loves exploring London’s food scene and spending time outdoors hiking and wild swimming.

Three topics I can be approached about: Applying to LBS from a non-traditional background; MBA and healthcare; studying with a partner.
